ABOUT THE CONFERENCE:
System Safety is the application of engineering and management principles, criteria and techniques to achieve acceptable mishap risk, within the constraints of operational effectiveness and suitability, time, and cost, throughout all phases of the system life cycle. The goal of System Safety is to optimise safety thorough the identification of safety related risks, eliminating or controlling them by design and/or procedures.
The Asia-Pacific Region today provides a great diversity in how the various countries address the issues of Safety. Indeed, this will be where System Safety can find relevance in almost all areas of endeavour. This conference aims to bring together professionals from government bodies, certification agencies, academia and industries to share and interact for the advancement of System Safety.
The System Safety Society (Singapore Chapter), a non-profit organisation affiliated to the parent System Safety Society that is incorporated in the USA, is honoured to host the International System Safety Regional Conference 2008 in Singapore. We aim to advance System Safety practice in the Asia-Pacific Region through sharing of experience and knowledge.
Specifically, the Chapter endeavours to:
- Promote system safety as an engineering and management discipline.
- Foster an environment for technical exchange and dissemination of information on system safety.
- Promote & improve system safety as a profession.
- Foster interaction between system safety professionals and practitioners.
- Further the education and professional development of individuals engaged in system safety.
